Highlights:
Conquer the racetrack in your classroom, hallway, or kitchen with this battery-powered Dragster. Perched on just two wheels, kids love exploring friction by putting different "sleds" or materials on the end that drags. Daring students can even construct a motorcycle! Optional challenges take cars beyond the drag strip; kids can "trick" their ride, designing it to do wheelies, donuts, jumps, and more.
Suggested Add-ons:
The following tools are highly recommended by TeacherGeek in order to help build this kit, but none are required.
NOTE: Please see for more info on required tools.
Curriculum/Lesson Topics
Drag Race Challenge
Your Dragster must travel down a 10ft track in the fastest time to win! Your vehicle may only be powered by 1 AA battery and 1 motor.
Distance Challenge
Design a Dragster to go the greatest distance possible while staying inside a 60 cm (2 ft) wide track. The Dragster that goes the farthest without going outside the track wins!
Friction
Learn how the physical properties of friction can effect your dragster.
Bonus STEAM Market-It Challenge
Add the STEAM Market-It Challenge to any completed TeacherGeek activity to teach students how to turn their TeacherGeek design into a retail product. Students will learn the 4 'Ps' of marketing - Product, Placement, Price and Promotion. Students have the option of completing a commercial, a billboard or retail packaging as a summative assessment.
